There is a large Turkish community in Qatar and Turkey is a popular destination for Qatari tourists.

Faith and family values are strong in both countries, and we share a love of culture, art and sport. Qatar Turkey 2015 Year of Culture allowed us to deepen these bonds and also celebrate the distinctive aspects of our cultures in an extraordinary and popular year of cultural exchange.

Throughout 2015 audiences in Qatar encountered the art and crafts, literature, cuisine and music of Turkey, especially at the vibrant Turkish Festival and Bazaar in Doha. The Harem Al Sultan exhibition was the most successful exhibition ever happened in QM Gallery in Katara and fans were delighted in travelling through time with the decors of the show to feel the atmosphere during Suleiman the Magnificent’ s era.

In turn, we were proud to present the vitality of Qatari arts and heritage at events in Ankara and Istanbul, where the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art hosted our acclaimed ‘Pearls’ exhibition. In one project two young Qataris were selected to participate in the journey of a lifetime: a trip to capture the essence of Turkish life, heritage and people through their camera lenses.
