CRICKET CONTEMPORARY

PHOTOGRAPHY

Qatar Museums and Youth Hobbies Centre invites Qatar-based photographers to submit entries for a Cricket Photos Competition (the “Photography Competition”) which will be part of the Year of Culture (Qatar- India 2019) activities. The competition will be getting the best photography and videos in Qatar.

Photographs may depict any aspect of cricket in Qatar; including the context in which this sport is practiced or any other related subject matter. The photography should focus on: passion, nostalgia, success, loss, happiness, teamwork, social life around this event, and also the different cricket locations in Qatar and how the urban development can be seen through it. All genres, styles and photographic media are eligible. Photographs should communicate the significance of cricket, as a sport, in Qatar.

Photographs will be selected based their artistic originality, insight and impact. All photographs must be culturally appropriate. A series of images devoted to a single theme or depicting a story are welcome. Stories presented in the form of photobooks are also encouraged, as are prints by analogue processes. 

ELIGIBILITY

Entries are open to all Qatar citizens and Qatar residents with a valid residence permit. The photographs must be the entrant’s own original work. Copyright in all work will remain with the photographer.

Digital manipulation is allowed, however it must not be misleading, and must be accompanied with an original copy for comparison. Multiple exposures and stitched images are permissible. If images that have been digitally manipulated beyond normal exposure, adjustment and sharpening, this must be stated in the caption.

HOW TO ENTER

Each applicant may submit up to 10 images or works. A photobook or story shall be counted as one work. Joint entries are allowed. There is no fee for entering.

Submittals: 10 images and 1 video file,

Dead line: 11:59 pm Qatar Local Time on April 15th 2019.

Photographs should be submitted as JPEG or PNG files in the native resolution of the camera with which they were taken (do not up-scale). If the work requires special display or framing, this should be specified in the caption. Photographs must not contain the name of the photographer or any other visible labeling in the image. For photobooks, please upload a PDF. The video must be in HD with MP4 format.
