with Dr Thom Richardson
One of the finest collections of Islamic arms and armour in Europe has been in development for nearly two hundred years. This talk illustrates the way the collection has been brought together over the years, by accident and design, and shows how fashion and the nature of the art market as well as gallery design can influence the growth of a collection.
Dr. Thom Richardson received his PhD from the University of York and is currently Curator Emeritus at the Royal Armouries in Leeds as well as a catalogue contributor to the Wallace Collection’s Complete Catalogue of Ottoman, Middle Eastern and Asian Arms and Armour. He has extensive curatorial experience and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London as well as having been Editor of the Journal of the Arms and Armour Society and Arms & Armour.
This lecture will be translated in to Arabic.
