QATAR-RUSSIA PHOTOGRAPHY EXCHANGE
CALL FOR APPLICANTS
Qatar Museums invites Qatari photographers to apply to represent Qatar for the forthcoming Qatar-Russia Year of Culture Photography Exchange.
To celebrate the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018 Qatar Museums intends to send two photographers on photographic assignments to Russia lasting up to two weeks each.
Each photographer will be required to travel to the Russian Federation in order to produce a new body of photographic work relating to the country for submission to Qatar Museums.
Photographers working in any style or genre of photography may apply.
Photographs resulting from the exchange must further the aims of the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture generally; must contribute to the fostering of mutual understanding and cultural relations between the countries; must be new and the original work of the photographer; and must have photographic and artistic merit.
Photographs will be exhibited in forthcoming exhibitions held by Qatar Museums, locally and internationally.
Successful photographers will receive generous bursaries to cover travel, accommodation and other expenses. Qatar Museums will support the selected photographers in making the necessary travel and other administrative arrangements for the exchange.
Applications are open to Qatari citizens only. Applicants must be 18 years of age or over.
Applicants must be available to travel to Russia for up to two weeks at a date to be mutually agreed. Photographers must make their own arrangements for work leave.
Photographers who have previously represented Qatar as exchange photographer are eligible to apply.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted by filling out the following application form.
Closing date for applications is 11:59 pm Qatar Local Time on 12th May 2018. There is no fee for making an application.
Applicants should upload a CV with a short statement, of up to 250 words, explaining why they should be selected to travel, including how their existing photographic work qualifies them for the exchange and how they will make best use of the exchange for their own photographic development.
The statement should also give a brief summary of the proposed focus of their work while on assignment and locations they would prefer to visit. The statement must be accompanied by a portfolio containing not less than 10 photographs illustrating the applicant’s photographic approach and abilities.
Applicants must also upload copies of their passport and QID.
Materials may be uploaded as Word files, PDFs and/or JPEG images.
The following information must also be entered in English as part of the application process: Photographer’s name, QID, date of birth, e-mail, street address, mobile number, website and Instagram (if available), and earliest date available to travel to Russia.
