In this four-week workshop, students will focus on geometric and Islimi design to create their own Islamic tiles. Students will look at Turkish and Persian tile-work and learn about the importance of non-figurative art in the Islamic world. We create a hexagon and an eight-pointed star, while exploring symmetry and floral patterns. Each student will then create their own set of two tiles using markers and watercolor paint, learning how to use geometry as inspiration for art!
