Damien Hirst Challenge (now closed)

Your take on a recurring theme

During Damien Hirst’s Relics exhibition, residents were invited to go beyond observation and provide a very personal response to the art on display. In this challenge, they were asked to create a painting, sculpture or multi-media piece based on Hirst’s exploration of life and death.

The winner, Hana Al-Saadi, won a trip to the UK to meet the artist at his Gloucester studio, where she helped make one of his famous spin paintings. Her artwork, Snail-Print Factory, is an installation where snails leave trails on paper, manifesting the stages of the natural lifecycle.

If you took part in this challenge, we would like to thank you for your contribution. The standard of entries was extremely high and we plan to run similar competitions in future.
